What pier & settlement repair looks like on site
Settlement, heave and lateral wall movement look similar from inside the house and need completely different repairs. Getting the diagnosis right is most of the value, and any assessment that reaches for piers before establishing what is actually moving is selling rather than diagnosing.
Cosmetic repairs come after, not during. Drywall, brick and trim repaired the same week as a lift will crack again as the structure relaxes into its new position, which is why we schedule that separately and say why.

FAQ
What does pier & settlement repair involve? Common questions
How do I know if my house has foundation problems?
Cracks in drywall that run diagonally from door and window corners, doors and windows that stick or will not latch, floors that slope, gaps at the top of interior walls, and stair-step cracks in brick. One of these is a house settling normally; several together and getting worse over months is movement worth measuring. An inspection puts numbers on it.
Do piers actually fix a settling foundation?
When the problem is settlement, yes — steel piers driven to load-bearing strata carry the foundation past the soil that is moving, and the house can be lifted back toward level where the structure allows it. When the problem is water, piers are the expensive answer to a drainage problem. Which you have is what the assessment decides, and drainage is the cheaper half of most real fixes.
Is foundation repair covered by homeowners insurance?
Usually not. Settlement, soil movement and water intrusion are excluded from most policies as maintenance rather than sudden damage. A foundation damaged by a burst pipe or a specific covered event sometimes is. It is worth reading the policy, but the honest expectation is that this is an out-of-pocket repair.
